Mozelle’s offers a top-notch Easter brunch

Easter is a holiday for celebration, and many choose to celebrate this day with fantastic food. The best Easter brunch in Winston-Salem is served at Mozelle’s Fresh Southern Bistro.

Located on Fourth Street, Mozelle’s is a unique blend of urban dining and classic Southern cooking. The building and the food both reflect this eclectic combination.

Walking up to the restaurant, guests first see a quaint, easily overlooked venue. Although this Sunday had particularly poor weather, guests usually enjoy outdoor patio dining. Once inside, it becomes clear that Mozelle’s is unlike other restaurants; here, the traditional idea of southern hospitality is fully embodied.

The inside of the restaurant is filled with natural light, as windows surround the exterior. Murals of flowers are repeated throughout the building and extend the motif of nature within the restaurant. The light, pastel colors are perfect for an Easter morning brunch.

However, southern hospitality extends further than just the decorations. Once inside, guests are warmly greeted and seated as soon as possible.

On this particular Easter Sunday, Mozelle’s was filled with families, friends and loved ones. All guests were dressed in their Sunday best, ready to enjoy a meal and celebrate the holiday together.

Looking around the restaurant, most of the older guests had champagne or mimosas, while younger guests enjoyed coffee or juice to start. The food itself is where the blend of southern and modern cooking comes into play.

The brunch menu featured classic southern breakfast and lunch items all with unique twists. Some of the more notable items were the huevos rancheros, the sautéed greens with fried eggs and the coconut pancakes. But they also feature more traditional southern dishes, such as Biscuits and Gravy.

One of the most popular dishes, the huevos rancheros, includes two eggs, beans, rice, ranchero sauce, cheese and salsa. This meal is a southern favorite with a garden-fresh twist.

Another fantastic option on the brunch menu, the sautéed greens with fried eggs, is a little more unique. Included in this dish are seasonal greens, sweet potato, white wine, topped with fried eggs all sautéed in one dish.

If guests prefer a sweeter breakfast, they are presented with the coconut pancakes. This dish offers pancakes with toasted coconut and blueberries topped with maple syrup.

However, some Easter morning diners may prefer lunch items, also included in the brunch menu.

Some of the most popular lunch dishes are the pulled pork sandwich, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken. Again, all are typically categorized as southern comfort food.

One of Mozelle’s classics, the fried chicken, takes a modern twist on this traditional staple. The chicken is topped with rich peach chutney and served with mac n’ cheese and green beans.

If guests saved room for dessert after a fantastic brunch, the featured Easter Sunday deserts were a Chocolate Torte topped with fresh raspberries, pecan bread pudding and classic apple pie.

Mozelle’s is overall a fantastic dining option. The restaurant embodies Southern hospitality with its interior decorations and guest service, while the food speaks for itself. All choices are classic Southern dishes with unique twists.

For this particular day of celebration, the pastel interior combined with guests dressed in their Sunday bests set the scene for the ideal Easter brunch.
