Podcasts Inspire Their Listeners

Podcasts Inspire Their Listeners

About a year ago, I fell into a rut. It was that time of year when your music playlist gets old. After listening to it consistently every day, I ventured to make a new playlist. Then, two months later, I was faced with the same predicament as before. I needed a deviation from the crippling cycle of making new playlists on Spotify and then getting sick of them. In search of a replacement, I stumbled upon the Podcast app, and needless to say, I have been hooked ever since.

One of my absolute favorites is the Goop podcast. Goop is a health, lifestyle and wellness brand created by Gwenyth Paltrow, but the podcast is so much more. They discuss everything from ayurvedic living to the dangers of glyphosate (the main ingredient in RoundUp). The interviews are either conducted by Paltrow or Elise Loehnen. These brilliant women take on a wide variety of guests who are all pushing boundaries in their fields and encouraging people to stay curious.

One of my favorite episodes was an interview with the one and only Erin Brokovich. Loehnen and Brokovich engaged in a thought-provoking conversation about chemicals we are exposed to every day due to the FDA’s lack of regulations. Though frightening to hear many of these facts, she was optimistic that advocacy would lead to change. Each time I listen to an episode, I feel empowered to change my life in a positive way.

Another one of my absolute favorites is the Rich Roll Podcast. For those who don’t know who Rich Roll is, he is a 50-year-old ultra-endurance athlete who dedicates his life to spreading information about wellness and plant based nutrition. He participates in every fitness challenge, whether it’s triathlons or Iron Mans. Roll has truly pushed himself to physical and mental limits, and he uses his podcast to inspire others to do the same. He interviews doctors, athletes and people from difficult upbringings who share stories about how changing your mindset changes your life. Though he was an alcoholic in his 20s and 30s, he became the best version of himself after finding his passion in life. If you’re looking to feel empowered, listen to his podcast.

Lastly, my newest favorite is the Talking Tastebuds podcast with Venetia Falconer. Falconer is a London-based entrepreneur looking to spread awareness toward sustainability and living a low waste life. Her podcast covers these issues and so much more. She has a wide range of guests who speak about a variety of topics.

She does not hold back on anything in her podcast, and I always learn something new after I listen. Her unfiltered approach and her ability to be unapologetically herself makes the podcast an all time favorite. She interviews people about the importance of eating seasonally, spreading body positivity, building a business, etc., so it really has something for everyone. If you’re looking for a laidback and fun podcast, but still want to learn a lot, check out Talking Tastebuds.
