This season, fashion is familiar with a twist

As a native North Carolinian, I can officially say that it’s fall in North Carolina; the cool wind chills, crisp leaves and smell of pumpkin pie are in the air.

Sadly, this means it’s time to put away the shorts and summer dresses and opt for your favorite autumn apparel.

Denim appears to be making an unexpected, yet newly revamped comeback from the usual denim styles. Cute denim skirts, for example, have become increasingly popular and can always be paired with a soft knit sweater or scarf. Style your favorite denim skirt, which can be purchased at stores like Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and PacSun with tights and a pair of ankle boots to turn a summer outfit into one more fit for the fall chills.

As always, denim jeans can easily be styled with an oversized sweater, cardigan or vest if you’re into the layered look. A pair of skinny jeans can be styled with tall boots or ankle boots if you’re looking for the warm, yet casual style.

Denim overalls, a summer staple piece, can also be easily transitioned to a warmer outfit by adding a pair of tights or cardigan, thus pulling together a cute and playful autumn look.

I’m sure you’ve heard that you can’t wear white after Labor Day; this is totally a myth. If the future President of the United States can wear a white pantsuit after Labor Day, you can too. White knits, such as cashmere sweaters, can be paired with dark denim jeans for a chilly, winter look.

Another way to wear white after Labor Day is by matching a faux fur vest or white blouse with a plaid skirt, another trend alert to be on the lookout for this fall.

Chokers and headbands, both staples of the 90s, are coming back in style for this 2016 season. Chokers can easily take a classy, daytime look into a fun, nighttime look in case you’re looking to be the life of the party. Headbands, on the other hand, are an easy way to take a night hairstyle and turn it into a day style. If you don’t want to wash your hair or your hair is looking a little frizzy, it is easy to throw on a cute headband like the ones found at stores like Francesca’s.

This fall seems to be a promising one when it comes to fashion. With denim, white knits, chokers and headbands on the rise, you can be sure there’s a look to fit everyone.
