To the Editor of the Old Gold and Black,

A State of the University conversation took place in Brendle Recital Hall on November 2.  Leaders from the Divinity, Business, Law, and Medical Schools were invited to describe the achievements of their Schools, but no one was invited to speak for the Reynolda Campus Graduate School.  There are currently more than 350 graduate students in residence seeking MA, MS, MSEd and Ph.D programs. These graduate students and their faculty mentors make substantial contributions to the intellectual level of the Reynolda campus while they are here. Upon graduation, they contribute to society at a higher level. Graduate students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics serve a vital role as teaching assistants in undergraduate labs. Many undergraduates participate in publishable research carried out in research groups energized by graduate students. We believe that research-active faculty do a better job in undergraduate classrooms and instructional labs.  Why is the Graduate School being ignored in public conversations?
