The Wake Forest community celebrated the unveiling of a soon-to-open child care and early education facility in the University Corporate Center on Aug. 28. The center will offer high-quality care to the children of faculty and students. This ensures that they are supported throughout their professional and academic endeavors at Wake Forest.
“It is clear that child care availability plays an essential role in the lives of our faculty, staff and students,” Provost Michele Gillespie said. “This center will allow our colleagues and students to focus on their professional and academic pursuits with the peace of mind that their children are receiving excellent care.”
Approximately 90 families and individuals attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and toured the brand new facility. The space will be operated by KinderCare Learning Companies for Employers and provide care for children from infancy through pre-K.
“The opening of KinderCare at Wake Forest University reflects our ongoing efforts to enhance the resources and services available to our community,” Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jacqueline A. Travisano said. “We believe that by supporting our employees and students in this way, we are contributing to their overall well-being and, in turn, the success of our institution.”
KinderCare was established in Montgomery, Alabama in 1969. Since then, the company has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and partnered with over 600 organizations, providing quality child care across the country.
“This is a historic day for Wake Forest University,” President Susan R. Wente said. “The establishment of this child care center underscores our commitment to creating a supportive and thriving community. Balancing work and family is challenging, but being able to increase the availability of quality child care will help families in our community thrive both personally and professionally.”
KinderCare at Wake Forest University plans to officially open this month. Wake Forest faculty, staff, students and affiliate employees will receive priority enrollment.
