With the onset of a new school year, students, faculty and staff embrace the inevitable changes that arise.

After returning to Mother So Dear for just a short period of time, students have already noticed many changes to Wake Forest and expect to see many more as the semester continues.

At the Old Gold & Black, we have experienced changes ourselves with a new executive board as well as other staff movements.

Senior Caitlin Herlihy has assumed the role of Editor-in-chief while junior McKenzie Maddox studies abroad for the fall semester. Herlihy previously served as Online Managing Editor last spring.

“After an incredible year of investigative reporting, I am eager to keep the momentum going as we begin a new school year,” Herlihy said. “Our staff is extremely hardworking and dedicated to delivering honest and well-reported journalism.”

Junior Chris Caswell will replace junior Kyle Tatich as Print Managing Editor while Tatich studies abroad during the upcoming semester. Caswell was previously the News Editor.

“I’m excited to take over from Kyle this semester,” Caswell said. “We have a great editorial board, and I can’t wait to help both maintain and raise the high level of reporting and journalism that previous OGB executive boards have created.”

Junior Shelby Devine will replace Herlihy as Online Managing Editor as Herlihy transitions to Editor-in-chief. Devine was the Life Editor last semester.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing to expand the Old Gold & Black’s presence on campus,” Devine said. “As the world becomes more digital, we are taking action to reach readers in new ways this semester.”

Senior Melissa Libutti will fill the role of News Editor alongside sophomore Julia Haines. Haines is continuing her time as News Editor, and sophomore Heather Hartel will join the news team as Assistant News Editor.

Sophomore Natalie Wilson will move from her previous role as Opinion Editor to Life Editor, along with senior Grace Young who was previously Assistant News Editor.

Junior Ryan Johnston will take over as Sports Editor from junior Brandon Palmer. Miller Ligon will move from his role as Assistant News Editor to Assistant Sports Editor.

Sophomores Becky Swig and Henry Bonilla will remain Opinion Editor and Assistant Opinion Editor, respectively.

As the centennial year comes to a close at the end of this semester, we are excited to further investigate the history and progression of Wake Forest. We will continue to evaluate how it has grown over the years and will continue to grow in the future.

In addition, with expansive construction projects on every corner of campus, Wake Forest is making physical changes as it increases and improves its facilities. The OGB recognizes the impact of campus growth and intends to remain current in its coverage of the construction.

Furthermore, as Election Day nears, the OGB is dedicated to informing our readers of local election news and views of university political experts.
