It must officially be fall if New York Fashion Week has come and gone already.
Because we were down in North Carolina and suffering through class instead of sitting front row — or last row for that matter — at the biggest fashion event of the season, I thought I would give you a little sneak peek into everything that we missed in the Big Apple.
“Athlesuire” is back again for the Spring 2017 season.
Think leggings, sneakers and fancy hoodies, as seen by Hood by Air, but this time throw in your rubber rain jacket and boots for a new spin on athlesuire.
Asymmetrical flowy hems were paired with oversized sweaters in Pabal Gurung’s Spring 2017 show.
Also don’t forget about pairing that white button down with multi-colored fur, even in the spring according to Gurung. Think very silky materials: slips over t-shirts and under sweaters for a laid back yet sexy look.
The shoes for next season were out of control.
If you thought the pom-pom gladiator sandals were big this summer, next spring’s gladiators are crazier and have even more structure, more like a traditional Roman gladiator sandal but in wild colors and patterns.
Ladies, don’t you dare throw out your off-the-shoulder blouses and dresses from this summer. Not only can they be worn this winter with layers but also next summer with brighter accessories.
Speaking of brighter accessories, wear your oversized and dangly colorful earrings next season, too. But this time, make your dangly earrings even more over the top.
Also, don’t throw out your pinstriped pieces.
Pinstripe is back and better than ever this spring. If you buy a pinstripe piece, not only will you be on trend but you will also just own a classic piece of clothing.
Get rid of the backpacks, and carry your books in a oversized slouchy bag.
Add some buttons and patches to your bag, striped sweaters and shirts to give them a personal touch.
Stripes never go out of style but think bright colorful stripes for next spring.
Spring is all about bright colors and the power color for next summer is pink.
It can be worn as an accent in any outfit but also just all over.
Michael Kors and Alexander Wang showed us how pink is powerful and such a great color for next season.
And finally we have western wear. This trend should be the easiest for students at Wake Forest to rock because I think most of us have cowgirl/boy boots.
Step outside the basic boot trend and add fringe and your bandanas from the summer into your outfit for some extra fun.
