Cin Cin Burger Bar is the perfect mix of a fun atmosphere, unique decorations and most importantly, amazing food.

This cool new restaurant is the newest of the Michael Restaurant Family Group trio, all located in the Piedmont-Triad area of Winston-Salem.

Inspired by the era of prohibition, Cin Cin tries to model a speakeasy from that time period. The restaurant is decorated with photos from this time. It is painted bright red, a color which perfectly fits the desired mood.

The menu features a modern take on 1920’s favorite drinks such as “The West End” or “The Goofy Mule.” It is also filled with a variety of delicious options such as burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and typical entrées.

However, nothing on the menu at Cin Cin Burger Bar is served in a typical or ordinary fashion. The restaurant takes several normal food items, such as burgers and chicken sandwiches, and puts a unique spin on them. Most of the food items are also named after iconic literature and themes from that generation, primarily the “Great Gatsby” to add to the Lost Generation vibe.

My family took my friends and I to Cin Cin Burger Bar and showed up not knowing anything about the place. We were pleasantly surprised.

Instead of a normal turkey burger, I ordered the “Turkey Trot,” which was a turkey burger topped with pineapple, coconut and honey-chipotle-barbecue sauce. It was the perfect mix of sweet, savory and refreshing.

Being from the North, the most interesting thing on the menu for my family and me was the “Flappers Chicken and Waffles.” This traditional southern food was served with powdered sugar, butter and maple syrup.

They also had “Chicken Waffle Pops” where they dipped the chicken into the waffle mix and cooked it with a maple glaze. Both exceeded expectations and were as memorable as the 1920’s itself.

The most interesting thing about the menu and possibly the whole restaurant were the shakes. There were three different categories of shakes, “Wet Adult Shakes,” “Artisan Shakes” and “Dry Shakes.” Both the “Wet Adult” and “Artisan” shakes are alcoholic, creating an “older version” of the fun shakes of our childhood.

The “Dry” shakes are every child’s dream. They mix every type of sugar known into one to create a drink suited for Buddy the Elf. Each one of the shakes have fun names, such as the “Wet Bonnie & Clyde” and the ‘YiaYia’s Secret” to go along with their sugary, colorful ingredients. The shakes are the perfect addition or dessert to the unforgettable meal customers can get at this restaurant.
