Junior Victoria Parker is a junior from Winston-Salem, N.C. majoring in Sociology with a Business concentration and minoring in Mathematics, Counseling and Psychology. She has served on the Student Budget Advisory Committee (SBAC) for two years and this past year she served as a Co-Chair for the committee. In addition to her involvement on SBAC, she is also involved in many other organizations on campus. Currently, Parker is serving as the Panhellenic Executive Council President as well as the President of the Catholic Community. 

Additionally, she is a member of Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) and is the organization’s Director of Academic Affairs. Previously, she was the Vice President of Panhellenic Relations for ADPi and the Vice President of Peer Ministry for Catholic Community. Parker is experienced in communicating and directing large organizations, executing good time management, and staying organized. 

She has several major goals as Treasurer. Most importantly, Parker will strive to continue to make the organizational funding process as clear as possible. This includes setting a minimum dollar request amount — if an organization’s funding request is under that amount they will not be asked to present in front of SBAC. She understands that all students are busy and involved, and she knows that asking organization leaders to come present when asking for very low dollar amounts is usually not fair to their time. 

Parker will also strive to hold a workshop for organization treasurers who are interested (not mandatory) to explain all resources on campus that can help with organization fundraising and philanthropy. Many student organizations have excellent ideas and causes but just need some more foundational support to achieve their goals. She will also work to publish more explicit funding guidelines for things like conference and club sports travel. 

Parker brings a unique perspective to the Student Government Treasurer role because she is not a Business or Economics major; SBAC has been one of her passions since sophomore year, and she has made the effort to learn about accounting, budgeting and financial information out of her own interests. Additionally, her holistic view and her involvement on campus allow her to represent many different students and perspectives.
