With classes canceled, roads too slick to drive, DoorDash unavailable and only the Pit open, snow days get old fast. If you are looking for ways to fill your time, here’s my failproof list of activities to relieve restlessness.
Start a new TV series
I recently started watching “The Traitors US” and have become addicted. Season 4 started streaming on Peacock in early January, so I binged all episodes this week to catch up. Episodes come out on Thursday nights.
The new Netflix series “His&Hers” is another easy watch with plot twists that you’ll never see coming. Read Nola Adepoju’s review for the Old Gold & Black here.
Rewatch an old favorite
On a similar note, it’s always fun to rewatch a favorite show or movie that you haven’t seen in a while. I restarted “Dawson’s Creek,” which was just re-added to Netflix.
Explore outside
Despite the cold, it can be fun to get a group of friends together for some true snow day activities. The hills next to the Sutton Wellbeing Center and the Scales Fine Arts Center are both popular sledding spots among students. Sleds can be easily fashioned with cardboard and tape, or acquired from the Benson University Center.
Declutter
With more free time on our hands, snow days are the perfect opportunity for cleaning, laundry, reorganizing or finally putting away clothes that have been sitting on the floor for too long.
Call friends from home
Whenever I’m bored and tired of scrolling on my phone but not motivated to do any schoolwork, I like to call someone from home to catch up. It’s always nice to see what’s happening at other universities while getting a dose of (virtual) social interaction.
Good luck with escaping boredom as snow continues to keep campus closed.
